Your Guide to Better Health and Wellness

Welcome to Functional Roots Nutrition! I'm Amy Ridling, the owner/practitioner at Functional Roots Nutrition-a holistic health resource that guides individuals along their path to better health and wellness. I work with clients to improve their health by listening to what each person is looking to accomplish and finding simple ways to tweak how and what we eat for improved health. I also understand that health is not just about food and also includes our relationships, daily habits, sleep patterns, stress levels, job and so much more. I use functional medicine techniques to identify the root cause of what you want addressed and we work together to set small, achievable goals to help you achieve your ultimate outcome!

My background includes a Masters of Science in Nutrition and I am also a nurse and social worker. My passion is working with people, especially families. I strive to understand my client's unique relationship with food and find holistic, solutions for each individual. I'd love to help you achieve your goals and find a path to feeling your best!

About Functional Roots Nutrition

My nutrition philosophy is based on the belief that our bodies are amazing and have the innate ability to heal-if we provide for our unique body's needs. I believe what we eat matters and that whole foods provide natural compounds (phytonutrients) that work to enhance our body's natural health and healing abilities. Living in the age of COVID offers us additional motivation to achieve optimal wellness and eating whole foods can help. We are all individuals with special gifts and unique challenges and I truly feel the only way to understand another person is to listen to their story. After having a chance to hear your journey, we will work together to achieve your goals!

Healthy Eating and Establishing Healthy Patterns in Your Daily Life

What we eat a big part of our health. This is especially true in our current world where we are bombarded by toxins in our environment every day. In order to give our body's innate ability to heal itself its best opportunity to thrive, we must be thoughtful in what we put in our mouths. Establishing healthy daily patterns of eating is a great foundation of better health!

We are all unique individuals and foods impact each of us in different ways. Sometimes the foods we consume have an inflammatory effect and it can be challenging to figure out which foods are causing upset and confusing to know what to do. At Functional Roots Nutrition, you have a resource to help you figure out what foods are problematic and what foods work best for you. You also have someone who intimately understands the struggle of learning mindful eating and will help support you on your road to better health!
